JOHNS HOPKINS UNIVERSITY, PAUL H. NITZE SCHOOL OF ADVANCED INTERNATIONAL STUDIES, BOLOGNA CENTER
The SAIS Bologna Center, now in its 57th year of operation, brings together an international and diverse group of students who study under a distinguished international faculty, in a small and close-knit community, fostering a reciprocal exchange of information, opinions and ideas.
With its strong emphasis on economics, international relations and development, geographic area studies and languages, the academic program prepares students to enter careers in the public, private and non-profit sectors.
The cross-cultural communication skills combined with the theoretical and practical knowledge enables SAIS graduates to occupy leadership positions around the globe – in foreign ministries and other government agencies, in international and regional organizations, in multinational corporations, banks and other financial institutions, non-profit organizations, journalism, research centers and universities worldwide.
All candidates for admission must have a university degree and have an excellent command of the English language. Students in the final year of a degree program may apply, but they must complete the degree before entering the Bologna Center. It is preferable that candidates have previous course work in international relations, politics, economics, history or law, although diverse academic backgrounds are also appreciated. All MA candidates must demonstrate the quantitative skills necessary to meet the MA economics requirement.
In addition to recent university graduates, the center also welcomes applications from mid-career professionals who wish to improve their theoretical knowledge of international affairs to help them advance in their current career path or switch to a different career sector.
